Ruthie Moore Announces Campaign for 8th Ward Alderman

Moore launches a grassroots campaign focused on bringing neighbors together and building a stronger future for the 8th Ward.

CHICAGO — Ruthie Moore has announced her candidacy for 8th Ward Alderman, beginning a campaign focused on listening to residents, bringing people together, and building a stronger future for the 8th Ward.

Moore has served for more than six years as an elected member of her Local School Council. She says that experience has shaped how she approaches public service and reinforced the importance of listening carefully, working across differences, and staying connected to the people affected by local decisions.

“I believe the 8th Ward has the people, ideas, and institutions to build something stronger,” Moore said. “What matters is creating more opportunities for residents to be part of the conversation and part of the work.”

Her campaign will focus on meeting residents where they are, hearing directly from neighbors about the issues that matter most, and creating meaningful ways for people to participate throughout the election.

“An election should be more than a moment when people cast a ballot,” Moore said. “It can also be a chance for neighbors to come together, talk honestly about what they want for their community, and help shape what comes next.”

In the months ahead, Team Moore will be meeting residents throughout the 8th Ward, hosting community conversations and events, recruiting volunteers, and creating more opportunities for people to get involved.

“I want residents to help shape what we build,” Moore said. “I want their ideas reflected in this campaign and, if elected, in how the ward office sets priorities, solves problems, and reports back to the community.”
